Marsha Jeanette Galvin Carrington Haglund passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, in Chehalis, Washington.

Marsha was born to George Galvin and Emily Green Galvin in Centralia, Washington, on June 21, 1929, and was the youngest of six siblings. She took great pride in her heritage, being part of a historic Centralia pioneer family. She married Richard (Dick) Carrington in 1948 and raised their two children, Mark and Susan Wiley, in the Chehalis area. After Dick's passing in 1993, she later married Robert Haglund, who also preceded her, as well as her siblings, Mary Jane Lightle, Lee, Ross, George and Knight; her daughter, Susan; grandson, Jeff; and granddaughter, Tabatha Wiley.

Marsha was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troop 321 while Dick was the scoutmaster, going on legendary hikes with the troop in Washington and Canada and earning multiple hundred-mile patches over the years. She went back to school in her 40s and earned a teaching degree, proceeding to teach elementary school in Adna.

Marsha’s favorite color was yellow, and spring was her favorite season, which was very fitting because her spirit was like a warm, uplifting ray of sunshine and a bountiful spring of kindness, humor and love to those around her. Marsha lived her life filled with a deep faith and hope. Most people who knew her have fond memories of her telling animated stories and laughing while knitting cozy, colorful socks or hats for her many loved ones. Marsha delighted in attending the Galvin family reunions. She truly cherished and was deeply adored by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

A service to celebrate Marsha’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church in Chehalis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assured Hospice of Centralia, 1815 Cooks Hill Road, Suite B, Centralia.
