Wolves down Beavers in five

The Black Hills softball team scored nine in the fifth to pull away from Tenino on Monday, as the Wolves topped the Beavers 14-3 in five innings.

Seven Wolves (2-0) recorded a base hit in the win, including four with multiple. Madison Mounts led the way with five RBIs at the plate, as she went 3 for 4 with a double. Madi Malone hit two doubles and drove in two more, while Kiley McMahon also hit a double and drove in three.

Tyler Venable went 2 for 4 at the plate, including a double and two runs batted in, and she scored twice.

Ella Goheen pitched all five innings for Black Hills, giving up four hits and three runs (two earned) while walking three and striking out six.

Of the 14 runs the Beavers gave up, just four of them were earned.

Black Hills is back in action on Wednesday at Aberdeen, while Tenino (0-3) will head north to take on North Thurston on Thursday.
