Winlock Internet Expansion Enters Engineering Phase

Posted

Earlier this week, ToledoTel Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dale Merten updated the Lewis County commissioners on the company’s public-private partnership to expand high-speed internet service in the Winlock area, according to a news release from the county.

Using a $23.5 million Washington State Broadband Office grant and $2.3 million of its own money, ToledoTel has now entered the Winlock internet expansion project’s engineering phase.

“In the next few weeks, locals will see Vantage Point engineers in town, finalizing the project specifications before construction starts in the late fall,” Merten said on Tuesday. “With a solid start this year, we should have this project completed late next year with customer installations starting in the summer of 2024.”

After the project is completed, Lewis County will own the broadband infrastructure and ToledoTel will use fiber optic lines to connect customers to the high-speed, new network.
