After a long layoff, the Mossyrock boys basketball team finally got the chance to take the court for their postseason opener, and they came away with a 57-41 win over Columbia Adventist in the 1B District 4 quarterfinals.
“Playing a home district game is rare, so we know we had to take advantage of our home court and our guys showed the intensity necessary to do just that,” Mossyrock assistant coach Kelly Ross said. “We are really proud of the effort our guys put together tonight to get this win.”
The Vikings (14-6, 11-2 CVL) took a lead early and began building on it, taking a seven-point lead after one and pushing it to nine at halftime. They pulled away in the third quarter, pushing the lead to double-digits.
Zack Munoz led the team in scoring with 15 points and hauled in seven rebounds, while Tyce Vigre added 12 points, came away with seven steals, and grabbed three rebounds.
Luke Cooper scored 10 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five assists, and Easton Kolb led the team with 14 rebounds.
“Everyone played together,” Ross said. “And it showed on both ends of the floor.”
Mossyrock will now head to Oakville on Tuesday, when they will face the Acorns in a winner-to-state district semifinal.
