Ending its regular season on a high note, the Mossyrock softball team defeated Morton-White Pass at home Thursday afternoon, 14-4.
The Vikings (12-6, 8-0 league) scored in every inning, with Hailey Brooks going 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, Lois Stone going 3 for 4 with a double, Abbie Lovan going 2 for 4, and Yuritzy Garduno hitting 2 for 3 with a double.
Before the game, Mossy celebrated the playing career of Brooks, their lone senior, for Senior Night. Brooks is committed to play softball at California State Bakersfield next season as an outfielder.
“I’ve been around her since she was born,” Mossy coach Keith Coleman said. “Her knowledge of the game is one thing, and she’s going to play Division I as an outfielder. She’s played catcher and pitched for us a bit, and played shortstop. She steps in wherever and she’s just a leader. She’s a huge role model for the girls, her work ethic is something else to watch.”
MWP was led by Natalia Armstrong’s 3 for 4 day at the plate with a pair of doubles, and Abigail Sympson went 2 for 3 with a double.
The Vikings will return to their home field next Monday for a 1B District 4 semifinal matchup against Wishkah Valley.
