Trump garners the most Lewis County votes on election night; Harris wins the state

Washington maintained its status as a blue state in the presidential election Tuesday night, though county-by-county results showed former President Donald Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris in predominantly rural areas, including Lewis County. 

The overall race for U.S. president was still undecided as votes continued to be tallied at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. 

Statewide results released by the Washington Secretary of State at 8:36 p.m. on Nov. 5 showed Harris winning the state with 1,513,282 votes, or 58.53%, to Trump’s 1,000,363 votes, or 38.69%. 

Chelan County’s results had not been submitted to the Washington Secretary of State as of 8:55 p.m. on election night. 

Trump had the most votes in Lewis County with 24,465, or 65%, over Harris’ 11,998 votes, or 31.92%. 

Three of Lewis County’s neighbors, Thurston, Pierce and Pacific counties, went to Harris. 

Lewis County had 594 voters for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 95 voters for Jill Stein, 35 voters for Claudia De la Cruz, nine voters for Rachele Fruit, nine voters for Joseph Kishore, 138 voters for Chase Oliver, 32 voters for Cornel West, 33 voters for Shiva Ayyadurai and 175 voters for a write-in candidate. 



Harris had the most votes in Thurston County with 58,155, or 60.11%, to Trump’s 35,852 votes, or 27.06%; Pierce County with 172,081 votes, or 53.79%, to Trump’s 138,618, or 43.33%; and Pacific County with 5,102 votes, or 49.31%, to Trump’s 4,993, or 48.26%. 

Lewis County’s remaining neighbors, Cowlitz, Skamania and Yakima counties, all went to Trump. 

Trump won Cowlitz County with 22,197 votes, or 57.86%, to Harris’ 15,276, or 39.82%; Skamania County with 3,367 votes, or 53.99%, to Harris’ 2,692, or 43.17%; and Yakima County with 25,021 votes, or 59.4%, to Harris’ 16,224, or 38.51%.
