Alli Engel caught fire, hammering a match-high 16 kills, and Pe Ell fended off Columbia Adventist in four sets (25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23) during a home 1B Columbia Valley League matchup on Monday.

Pe Ell has already secured the No. 4 seed in the 1B District 4 playoff tournament, their second-straight season qualifying for districts. The Trojans will travel to the 1B Coastal League champion, Taholah (9-0 overall), in the opening round of districts at 6 p.m. on Nov. 2.

On Monday, the Trojans were buoyed by Kennedy Kephart’s match-high 19 assists, while Charlie Carper had no errors with four kills and 14 for 14 serving. Abby Cox contributed three big blocks, four kills and was 9 for 9 serving. Charlise Belanger was 100% serving and Payton Peterson pitched in 10 digs.

Pe Ell coach Hollie Briggs said perseverance was the key for the Trojans.
