The Toledo Community Foundation (TCF) on Tuesday announced that its semi-annual Downhome Shindig event raised $85,300 in support of Toledo School District students in need and helping kids succeed.
Held at Country N Lace on Sept. 13, the event had over 230 guests for an evening of music, food and generosity, a news release stated. Attendees had a barbecue dinner, dessert and a silent and live auction.
Highlights of the auction include a load of wood re-gifted to a family in need, a pie in memory of Don Buswell going for $800, an entire pig purchased, cut and wrapped, and many other items.
"Our community never ceases to amaze us,” Cyndi Philbrook, the foundation president, said. “Raising $85,300 is more than just a financial milestone; it's a reflection of Toledo’s heart, hustle, and hope. For a volunteer board, that’s an extraordinary achievement.”
The TCF extended its gratitude to all the sponsors, donors and attendees who made the event possible, according to the release. Event sponsors included Country N Lace, Paula Burrows EXP Team and Bonanza BBQ.
