Seattle police are searching for a person suspected of stabbing a woman and hitting her in the head with a sledgehammer Friday morning in the Fremont neighborhood.

Someone called 911 around 9:15 a.m. to report a nude female covered in blood and someone is trying to kill her, said Seattle police spokesperson Shane Weatherford.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to Palatine Avenue North and North Market Street and found a 30-year-old woman with a head wound and multiple stab wounds on her torso, officials said.

Paramedics took her to Harborview Medical Center where she was reportedly in stable condition, according to department spokesperson David Cuerpo.

The woman told police she was driving three men and another woman in her car shortly before she was attacked. She drove into an alley off Palatine when the other woman allegedly assaulted her, according to Weatherford.

Police believe the suspect took the woman's car and drove away. Officers found the vehicle about 1 mile southeast, with a blood-covered sledgehammer inside and keys in the ignition, Weatherford said.

Police searched the area for the suspect and three men but had not located them by 1:30 p.m. Officers seized the car as evidence and are investigating, according to Weatherford.
