Tigers throttle Loggers in return to league play

The Napavine boys basketball team got 2024 started fast, blowing out Onalaska 89-44 on Thursday in Central 2B League action.

The Tigers (10-0, 5-0 C2BL) cracked 80 points for the fourth time this winter, highlighted by a 25-10 run in the second quarter and a 31-point period in the third.

James Grose poured in 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting, going 4 for 5 from beyond the arc and also logging four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Jarin Prather added 13 points, and Cal Bullock had 12. Cael Stanley dished out seven assists, while Becket Landram had four to go along with a team-leading four steals.

Blazer Underhill led the Loggers (3-6, 1-4 C2BL) with 17 points, and Maddox Mickley scored 12. Ethan Thayer had nine rebounds to lead the way on the boards.

As a team, Napavine turned 29 Onalaska turnovers into 47 points, and turned 15 offensive rebounds into 17 second-chance points.

The Tigers will dip back out of C2BL play to host 1A Elma on Saturday afternoon. The Loggers will be off nearly a week, facing Toledo at home next Wednesday.
