Building up a 5-0 lead over the first three innings, the Centralia softball team did enough in the seventh to hold off a late rally, allowing two runs but slamming the door any further for a 5-2 league win over Shelton Monday afternoon.
The Tigers were led by Makayla Chavez’ day at the plate, going 1 for 2 with a triple that scored two, and a walk. Ella Orr added an RBI and a walk drawn.
In the circle, Peyton Smith threw a complete game allowing just two runs, both unearned, on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
The Tigers (5-8, 3-8 2A EvCo) will take on Black Hills next as on Tuesday in a makeup contest at Fort Borst Park.
