Tigers’ ground game stuffed in loss to Highclimbers

The Centralia football team lost its 17th straight game on Friday, falling 20-6 in a 2A EvCo match in Shelton.

The Highclimbers (2-4, 1-2 2A EvCo) snapped a four-game losing streak of their own by tripling up the Tigers in total yardage, tallying 393 total yards of offense.

The Tiger (0-6, 0-4 2A EvCo) defense kept it from getting out of hand by forcing three turnovers, but the offense struggled, particularly the ground game; Centralia finished with minus-two rushing yards on the day.

Through the air is where the Tigers were able to have some success, as Terrell Sanders completed nearly half of his passes without turning the ball over for 131 yards.

Dustin Ingles led the team in receiving yards with 71 on five catches, while Landen Jenkins hauled in six for 53 yards.

Jayden Fuller was a monster on the ground for the Highclimbers, rushing for 151 yards and a score. Gabriel Conklin wasn’t as efficient through the air, throwing two interceptions, but he still threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Either Centralia or Black Hills will get their first win next Friday, as the two 0-6 teams will meet at Tiger Stadium.
