T-Wolves lose steam, lose to Cougars

The Morton-White Pass boys basketball team started slow and ended slower, spotting Seton Catholic an early lead and fading late in a 76-48 non-league loss on Monday.

Judah Kelly scored 27 points and Tony Belgiorno added 11, but both got hurt midway through the fourth quarter, and the T-Wolves (1-2) couldn’t find any points without them in a seven-point period.

MWP started with just five in the first quarter, but did enough defensively to keep the gap at just 11-5. Seton Catholic went up by 13 at halftime, but the T-Wolves found some rhythm in the third quarter to cut the game back to 10, before it all went wrong in the fourth.

“We just kind of lost momentum,” MWP coach Kevin Dunalp Jr. said. “They hit some big shots and we just couldn’t keep up.”

Belgiorno also came away with 10 rebounds, and Keaton Thompson had eight.

“(We) rebounded better than we have been,” Dunlap said. “A lot more physical, and we’re really trying to get after the ball. That was an improvement from the last two games.

MWP will host Eatonville in another non-league game Wednesday.
