T-Birds Trip Up at Ridgefield

Dropping its second straight game to a team down south, the Tumwater softball team fell to reigning Greater St. Helens League champ Ridgefield in five innings Friday afternoon, 14-1.

The Thunderbirds had a hard time finding offense after falling into an early hole, managing just five hits with one run scored by Kylie Waltermeyer. Ella Ferguson racked up two of the T-Bird hits, going 2 for 3.

In the circle, however, Ferguson struggled, giving up 13 hits, 13 runs, with 11 earned, with five strikeouts and three walks. The Spudders raked two home runs over the fence, and put 11 runs on the board in the game’s first two innings.

That would prove to be a stretch Tumwater couldn’t overcome, and the T-Birds now fall to 0-2 to start the season.

They’ll look for their first win of the season against another GSHL team, R.A. Long, on Monday in Longview.
