T-Birds Shut Down Bobcats

Following a rematch that was technically a non-league game last Friday, the Tumwater softball team got its league revenge over Aberdeen, taking down the Bobcats 7-1 in a 2A EvCo matchup Monday to seal the season series.

Coupled with W.F. West’s loss at Black Hills, the win vaults the T-Birds into first place in the league, with three games to go.

Tumwater took the lead without the benefit of a hit in the top of the first, with Jaime Haase drawing a walk and rounding the bases on a succession of wild pitches. Two walks and an error gave the T-Birds another run in the second, before Lexie Peller doubled home Chloe Foos to make it 3-0. Kylie Waltermeyer added an RBI single with two outs, the first of her three hits on the afternoon, to push the lead even further.

That was plenty for Ella Ferguson to work with. The sophomore in the circle stopped the Bobcats for the second time in four days, striking out seven and allowing just one unearned run on six hits and five walks. She also went 2 for 5 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.

Tumwater will be back in action Wednesday, taking on Rochester.
