Led by Ella Ferguson’s strong day in the circle and two RBIs from Jaylene Manriquez, the Tumwater softball team defeated Centralia at Fort Borst Park Tuesday, 5-1.
The Thunderbirds got a complete game out of Ferguson, who struck out nine and allowed one earned run on five hits and a walk Tuesday. Countering her for the Tigers was Peyton Smith, who also threw a complete game with four earned runs on 11 hits and one walk.
Manriquez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Aly Waltermeyer added a 2 for 3 line with two runs scored for the T-Birds. Centralia’s Jimena Luis knocked in the Tigers lone run in the sixth inning, while Makayla Chavez went 2 for 3.
Centralia plays Rochester Wednesday on the road while Tumwater takes on the Tigers again on Friday.
