In its third game of the season against a Greater St. Helens League foe, the Tumwater softball team picked up its first win of the season against R.A. Long Monday afternoon in Longview, 11-0.
The Thunderbirds were led by a consistent day in the circle from Ella Ferguson, who threw a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts, six walks, and one hit allowed. Ferguson also went 2 for 5 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Kylie Waltermeyer added a 3 for 4 day with a run scored and two RBIs, and Marissa La Praim went a perfect 4 for 4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
The T-Birds will hope to carry that momentum over into its league opener against rival W.F. West at Rec Park in Chehalis at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening for their next game.
