CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• David E. Merrill, 22, of Centralia, was arrested after accusations that he assaulted an individual and also attempted to sexually assault her at about 8:28 a.m. July 30 in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue.
• A juvenile male was arrested at about 1:57 a.m. July 31 after officers attempted to stop his vehicle for driving with no license plates and no lights in a residential neighborhood. The suspect fled, striking a patrol vehicle at the corner of West Pine Street and North Oak Street in the process.
• Don K. Gonzales, 36, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass after remaining on property in the 400 block of East Summa Street he had been previously trespassed from. Gonzales was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a methamphetamine smoking device was located on his person at around 1:07 p.m. July 30.
• Jerimy J. Trudeau, 42, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail at about 8:18 p.m. July 29 after allegedly violating a protection order requiring he be at least 1,000 feet away from the victim in the 1400 block of Johnson Road.
Indecent exposure suspect
• A suspect has been identified and is being sought by the Centralia Police Department after luring two citizens to their vehicle and exposing their genitalia while seated in the vehicle in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at about 7:57 p.m. July 29. The suspect has a history of this type of crime, making this event a felony, according to police.
Malicious mischief
• Damage to a vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Alder Street at 2:34 p.m. July 30.
• Damage to property was reported in the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue at about 11:53 p.m. July 31. No entry to property occurred.
Vehicle collision
• A two-vehicle collision occurred in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue at about 5:55 p.m. July 30. Damage to vehicles was reported.
Theft
• Theft from a local grocery store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street was reported at about 12:34 p.m. July 31. This case is still under investigation.
Assault
• Two individuals were sprayed with pepper spray or bear spray after a verbal altercation with another individual in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue, which occurred at about 10:19 p.m. July 31. This case remains under investigation.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Matthew A. Poston, 38, was booked into the Lewis County Jail at about 5:39 p.m. July 30 on one count of violating a protection order for two prior convictions of felony domestic violence and one count of second-degree burglary after breaking into a residence in the 300 block of Southwest Ninth Street.
Vehicle collision
• A two-vehicle collision in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue turned into a verbal dispute after the damage was observed. No injuries were reported, and the vehicles were not blocking the roadway.
Domestic violence
• A resident in the 100 block of Southeast Westside Drive reported her father kicking and threatening her at about 2:49 p.m. July 30.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 162 inmates, including 148 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 125 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
