The Centralia Public Works’ Water Department employees will begin flushing fire hydrants on
Monday, Oct. 12, the city announced in a news release.
The hydrant-flushing process is preventative maintenance that takes place twice a year to bring fresh water through the lines. During this process, the City of Centralia’s water will remain safe to drink, according to a news release from the city.
It takes approximately three weeks to work through the entire system, spending a day or less in each neighborhood.
