The Sacajawea Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has announced in a news release that it has partnered with the City of Tumwater and George Rogers Clark SAR to present “Talking Headstones,” histories of eight original Tumwater founders buried in the Union Pioneer Calvary Cemetery, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 5.
The news release recommends accessing the cemetery by parking at the south end of Mills and Mills Cemetery, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, and walking through the Littlerock Road streetside opening in the cemetery fence.
The presentation given on Oct. 5 will be titled “Daughters of the Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution,” and will be about the following founders buried in Union Pioneer Calvary Cemetery: Charles Mason, Thomas Frost, Jesse Ferguson, Sara Lang, the Bordeaux Family, Harvey Cameron, Charles Judson, Newton Tice, and George and Isabella Bush. Any members of the public attending who are descendants of founders buried in the cemetery will be acknowledged, according to the news release.
The Sacajawea Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is composed of members from Thurston, Lewis, Mason and Pierce counties, the release stated.
