Riverhawks Taken Down by Wildcats in Non-League Bout

Toledo softball was out-hit 11-7 and the Riverhawks were unable to fend off visiting Ocosta in a 7-4, non-league loss to the Wildcats on Wednesday.

The Riverhawks had a tough time generating offense against Wildcat pitching duo Annika Hollingsworth and Jessie Gilbert, who combined for 15 strikeouts. Gilbert had 10 Ks alone in four innings.

Toledo’s leading hitters were Mialeigh Jurica, who was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored, and Averie Robins, who went 1 for 3 and drove in a run. Quyn Norberg and Brynn Williams each scored runs.

Robins went the distance in the circle for Toledo, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits and three walks with six punchouts.

Gilbert led Ocosta by going 4 for 4 with four RBIs and a run, while Hollingsworth was 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Toledo (11-7, 6-3 C2BL) heads to Stevenson to continue Central 2B League play at 4 p.m. on Friday.
