Onalaska Farm Sanctuary was awarded $6,530 at the Soroptimist Int. Centralia-Chehalis inaugural 100+ Women Who Care event on Thursday, Feb. 6.

But the nonprofit won’t be keeping the full sum.

“We are splitting this check three ways. We will be donating equal parts to each organization nominated,” Onalaska Farm Sanctuary stated on social media Thursday night, referring to fellow nonprofits the Boys & Girls Club of Lewis County and Toledo Community Foundation.

Representatives of each organization gave 10-minute presentations to a crowd of donors, who each donated $100 at the

door, at the Lewis and Clark Hotel in Centralia on Thursday.

At the end of the presentations, donors voted to determine which nonprofit would receive the donations raised during the event.

On its decision to split the donations three ways, Onalaska Farm Sanctuary said, “501c3 work should not be a competition. All 501c3s deserve to be funded. Imagine a society where all our children are cared for, all our animals are cared for, all our seniors are cared for and every need is met — Every cause is deserving!”

According to organizers, the 100+ Women Who Care model is simple yet transformative: gather, learn, donate and make an impact — all within an evening.

“Lewis County is filled with passionate individuals who want to give back to their community, and we are thrilled to launch this initiative,” said Vanessa Horning, the event organizer.

100+ Women Who Care organizers extend gratitude to all the Lewis County nonprofits that applied to participate in their inaugural event, as well as the Centralia-Chehalis Soroptimist Club for sponsoring it. For the first gathering, the three nonprofit organizations were chosen randomly.
