Arbor Health Morton Hospital will soon have a new CEO at its helm, according to a news release from the East Lewis County health care provider.
Thatcher, Arizona resident Eric Neal, a Society for Human Resource Management senior certified professional, will officially take over as the hospital’s CEO starting on Aug. 25.
“I look forward to getting to know everyone at Arbor Health and understanding their impact on community health. Health care can be very challenging and rewarding and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and to get to work alongside and supporting the healthcare team,” Neal said in the release.
“The importance of quality health care services in rural communities is significant. After seeing the dedication of the commissioners, the commitment of Arbor Health staff and the friendliness of those we encountered in the community, it is clear that Morton is a great place to work and live. The beautiful setting and weather are the icing on top.”
According to the release, Neal has 35 years of health care management experience and originally got into the medical field as a lab technician.
He has a master’s degree in business administration in health care management from Western Governors University and holds a prestigious fellow designation from the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Prior to coming to Morton, Neal was the chief operating officer of the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford, Arizona. Like Arbor Health Morton Hospital, the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center is a critical access hospital for those in rural communities.
Arbor Health’s previous CEO was Robert Mach, who became CEO in June 2023. No official reason for Mach’s departure was given.
Arbor Health Chief Outpatient Services Officer Julie Taylor has been serving as the hospital’s interim CEO, according to the release.
