A man is facing felony charges for allegedly trying to sell meth to residents of a substance abuse disorder rehabilitation center in Centralia on Sunday.
Bryant Raoul Elliott, 35, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 11:20 p.m. on Nov. 3 after a nurse at the Southcreek Post-Acute and Rehabilitation Center reported a visitor was trying to sell meth to the residents at about 9:30 p.m., according to jail records, court documents and Centralia Police Department call logs.
The center is located in the 900 block of Scheuber Road in Centralia.
The nurse reported that the suspect, who has since been identified as Elliott, came into the facility to visit a patient but then tried to sell meth to patients in the smoking area.
A patient told responding Centralia Police Department officers that she was on the way to the designated smoking area when she saw a male subject, later identified as Elliott, smoking at a picnic table.
After telling Elliott he couldn’t smoke there and continuing to the designated smoking area, Elliot allegedly “patted the front of (his) jacket and said in a low voice that he had some ‘white’” and “told her ‘weird’ stories about dealing meth and making a lot of money,” according to court documents.
A second patient reported that Eliott “patted his pocket and stated he had meth while they were out in the smoking area,” according to court documents. Elliott allegedly told the patient “it was great for pain and asked if he wanted to buy some,” but the patient “told him no and changed the subject.”
When contacted by the officers, Elliott allegedly “stated he never tried to sell anyone meth, and that he just told them they could use it for pain,” according to court documents. He allegedly refused to provide his identification to officers and was reportedly seen “glancing to his left and right, which (an officer) believed was indicative of him looking for an avenue to escape,” according to court documents.
An officer reportedly told Elliott “he could see what he was thinking of doing and to not make the situation worse” and told Elliott he was being detained.
Elliott then allegedly “lunged forward, pulled his arms away (from the officers) and began heading towards an open door,” according to court documents. An officer “tackled the male and the officers handcuffed him,” according to court documents.
A search of Elliott yielded his identification card and a clear baggie containing 15.1 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for meth.
He was charged Nov. 4 in Lewis County Superior Court with one count each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
A Lewis County Superior Court judge issued a no-bail hold for Elliott after he refused to appear for a Nov. 4 preliminary hearing. Lewis County Jail records indicated that hold was still in effect as of Nov. 7.
Elliott is also being held on multiple misdemeanor warrants out of Lewis County District Court and Chehalis Municipal Court, for which his total bail is $12,600.
There is also an active felony warrant out of Texas, according to court documents.
