Onalaska drops a pair to Wahkiakum

Cathlamet proved to be a tough place to play for the Onalaska baseball team on Saturday, as the Loggers dropped both games in a doubleheader to Wahkiakum, 15-5 and 14-4.

The Mules took control immediately in Game 1, scoring 11 in the first to set the tone.

The Onalaska (0-7, 0-6 C2BL) offense picked it up as the game went on, scoring one in the fourth before a three-spot in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Mules from ending it in five.

Jeffery Lines went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the first game, and Huddson Barnes drove in two while going 1 for 3 at the plate. Desean Stewart also went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Game 2 followed a similar script, as the Mules jumped out to a 4-0 lead early before adding one in the second and three in the third to break the game open.

The Loggers scored three in the fifth to cut it to 10-4, but a four-spot in the bottom of the fifth was enough for Wahkiakum to leave with two run-rule victories.

Rowdy Lyons recorded the Loggers’ only RBI of the nightcap, going 1 for 3 at the plate, and Jacob Meiss and Barnes also went 1 for 3.

The Loggers host the first of a two-game series against Kalama on Wednesday.
