Letter to the editor: Why I voted against the school levy

Posted

Now that the Centralia school levy has passed, the big question is, “Will this be a complete victory, or the beginning of the school and the unions taking over your tax dollars?”

I am posting this as a demand to stop using levies as a tool of raising your property, living expenses and, don’t forget, rent.

How many years have our schools been begging for more levies, more pay and more funding? Forever, and I mean never ending.

I am not ashamed to admit I voted no. Yeah, you can say I “don’t care for kids,” but the truth is I vote no on behalf of the many others who are struggling to make a living, afford insurance and can’t pay their rent.

I voted no as a complete message to the greedy unions who abuse and rely on the public to help control their overspending. Our tax dollars pay for everything our schools need, but when the unions are in charge, most likely it’s their agenda that takes the life out of the quality of education. Unfortunately, your tax dollars go down the drain.

When government can’t control spending and hide the deadly fact where your tax dollars went, they create more levies and use the best tactics for you to believe (children). The more levies are created, the longer it will be used as a secret plan of raising your means of living, disregarding the needs of our children getting the righteous quality of education.

Raising tax dollars each year is not the people’s responsibility. In reality, the money is invested in much more poor-quality education our unions have corrupted.

When you vote no, you are voting to not surrender to the abusive power the unions have destroyed our schools for years.

Our schools need to go back to the real basics of what education means. Unfortunately, they have become a political monopoly thanks to you know who. Now that this levy has won, consider if there will be another one for the next year? If that’s the case, then consider, where did your money go?
