Earlier this year, I read an article in The Chronicle indicating we must save the Oregon spotted frog. An earlier article said we must kill 500,000 barred owls as they are not native to Washington. They must be shot to protect the habitat of the spotted owls. What about the Oregon spotted frog? That frog is an illegal alien that hopped across the Washington border.
I contend that rather than spending all that money on building a habitat for those illegal frogs, creating 24 pond complexes, placing woody debris around them, planting 40,000 native plants and controlling invasive reed canary grass, we need to deport those border hoppers back to Oregon from whence they came. It’s up to Oregon to improve their habitat, which will keep them from coming to our frog sanctuary.
