Letter to the editor: Democracy and freedom?

Posted

I could hardly suppress wild laughter when Kamala Harris and other Democrats called Donald J. Trump a “threat to Democracy” and “fascist!” We have already seen how Trump governs and it bears no resemblance to fascism. No mandates about what car or stove they were allowed to buy, no forced change to expensive electricity generation.

Furthermore, he has said he would not sign a federal law regarding abortion, because each state’s voters should choose their path, as the U.S. Supreme Court enabled them. Considering how strongly people feel on the issue, that truly is the democratic way to go. People unhappy with a state’s laws can work to change them or move to a state that votes their way.

That’s freedom.

In fact, many Californians have moved to other states to escape Biden/Harris-type policies, which are creating higher taxes, higher prices, more crime and more benefits to massively-uncontrolled numbers of immigrants. (That drop in population caused them to lose a delegate to Congress. Is that why the Biden-Harris regime wants to cram more humans into the “blue” states?)

Frankly, I see a greater threat to democracy in Ms. Harris being the nominee of the rich party elites, not of the rank and file. She was the least popular candidate in the Democratic primary, was the first to drop out and received NO delegates. What contempt for the people: to call her their nominee for the highest elected position in the land.

She doesn’t even have the guts to face reporters without having a memorized script or a teleprompter. (And when the teleprompter failed, we saw her unable to continue with any thoughts spontaneously, as Trump can do.)

How can we trust her to negotiate with anybody, especially the powerful dictators of our nation’s enemies? Some two months after talking with Putin, he invaded Ukraine. What on earth happened there?

After a single negotiation with Trump, the Taliban killed not one other American in Afghanistan, not until the Biden-Harris regime’s haphazard and deadly withdrawal.

Have Democrats already forgotten that Donald J. Trump had already been president of the U.S. for a four-year term, and that anybody working and anybody buying anything knows that things were better then than during this awful Biden-Harris administration that followed?

Trump knows how to govern for the people, protecting their freedom and true democracy, and increasing their prosperity. Biden and Harris, despite possible favorable intentions, demonstrably do not know how.
