Easton Kolb led the Mossyrock baseball team to a win over Rainier on Wednesday, hitting a homer at the plate and striking out 10 on the bump to lead the Vikings to a 4-3 win.

Peyton McClure opened the scoring, putting Mossyrock (1-1) on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

Easton Kolb made it 2-0 with his home run in the fifth, and Hunter Isom brought home two more later in the inning on an RBI single.

Rainier was able to get back in it, scoring twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to get within one, but Mason Atter was able to close the door and give the Vikings their first win of the season.

The victory was a good sign for Mossyrock coach Darren Kolb, who said it was a “night and day” difference from a blowout loss to Toutle Lake in their opener on March 9.

“Just proud of the kids for practicing hard all week,” Kolb said. “It paid off.”

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday, when they’ll head north to take on Crosspoint.
