An Overdose Awareness Day event was held at George Washington Park in Centralia on Thursday, Aug. 28.
“International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held at the end of August every year since 2001,” Gather Church stated when announcing the event. “Its purpose is to raise awareness of overdoses, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends. Death by overdose is preventable. Together we can end stigma, end silence, and end overdose.”
The event included a resource fair, naloxone distribution, food, speakers, a raffle and the third Remembrance Walk.
