Lewis County Fire Protection District No. 14 in Randle responded to a reported structure fire in the area of 140 Kiona Road in Randle at approximately 8:50 a.m. Friday.

A column of smoke was visible immediately from several miles away, according to Randle Fire Chief Justin Claibourn. On arrival, crews found a fully involved structure and began a defensive attack. Additional units were called from Packwood and Glenoma to supply water and personnel for the attack.

The fire was contained, and threats to neighboring properties were eliminated as of Friday afternoon, although crews remained on site to extinguish hot spots. According to Claibourn, initial reports suggest that the fire started in an RV stored next to the residence and then spread to the main residence. The fire resulted in a complete loss of the structure and displaced four occupants, who were all safe on arrival.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but remains undetermined due to heavy fire damage.
