Driver of car hits Washington child boarding school bus

A child getting on a school bus in Battle Ground was hit by a passing car, police said.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash in the 19300 block of Northeast Allworth Road just before 9 a.m. Monday.

They found that a school bus had stopped to pick up an elementary school student. As the student crossed the road to reach the school bus, a sedan traveling the opposite direction slowed but did not stop and knocked the child over.

The child sustained minor injuries.

The driver, who police did not identify, stopped and cooperated with investigators, police said.

The driver was cited for passing a stopped school bus.
