After opening Brick in the Wall on Halloween weekend in 2025, Centralia residents Rudy Carrillo and Joe Smith, co-owners of the business, are celebrating their one-year anniversary with a brick-and-mortar location in a big way — by moving the business to a larger retail space.

While normally open Wednesday through Sunday, Brick in the Wall closed this week to give Carrillo and Smith time to move to the storefront, which they will open the day before Halloween this year, Friday, Oct. 30.

And while they have thousands of used LEGO pieces and minifigures, along with hundreds of both completed and still-in-box discontinued sets to move, thankfully they only have to move around the block.

Brick in the Wall’s original location was next to Centralia City Hall and the Just Get Faded Barbershop on West Maple Street, and it will now be located at 324 N. Tower Ave., just south of the intersection of Tower and Maple.

Smith spoke to The Chronicle on Tuesday, Oct. 27, while getting Brick in the Wall’s new location set up.

As they are not an official LEGO retailer, they do not sell the Danish toy company’s current new sets, but instead focus on out-of-print sets, vintage collectable minifigures and bulk LEGO bricks for MOCs, my-own-creation builds made by LEGO fans. Carrillo and Smith also buy and trade vintage LEGOs.

According to Smith, the new Tower Avenue location has close to four times the square-footage compared to their original location on Maple.

“It’s going to allow us to expand everything we do. We’re going to have two work stations so both of us can process used sets to clean bricks and make sure sets are complete,” Smith said.

“And we’re also going to have a countertop in here for packing and shipping, so we can start doing online sales, along with gift-wrapping, which we’re going to start doing.”

Along with more room for them to work, sales displays will be expanded along with shelving space to display both sealed and completed LEGO sets, and a larger bulk LEGO and minifigure creation center table will be set up.

“Ready or not, we’ll be open on Friday,” Smith added.
