Kayla Mounts was sworn in as the newest member of the Centralia School District Board of Directors Wednesday morning at the Centralia School District board room.
With nearly 15 years of experience in public education, Mounts bring with her a passion for student achievement, elementary education and building strong schools where every child can succeed, according to a school district release.
Mounts is committed to listening to the voice of students, families and staff, asking the important questions and working hard to ensure the Centralia district continues to thrive. Beyond her dedication to education, Mounts is deeply rooted in the community. She believes in celebrating the district’s successes while tackling challenges head on to create better opportunities for students.
Mounts replaces Maritza Bravo, who resigned June 18 after serving on the board since 2022. Bravo’s resignation made her the third member to resign from the seat since 2021. The board of directors conducted interviews with candidates on July 18 before announcing the selection of Mounts on July 25. Mounts previously served as an elementary school teacher in Rainier.
