Centralia College will hold its 12th annual Capstone Presentation Day on Monday, June 16, in the TransAlta Commons.
Students will share their posters and project displays in the banquet room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a news release from the college.
The community is invited to view the presentations and projects, meet the students and celebrate academic excellence. Admission is free.
Around 100 students submitted projects for the event, which showcases Centralia College students’ culminating work. It is meant to integrate their learning with practical application, the news release stated.
The year’s projects include:
• Results from an investigation of the carnivorous pitcher plant
• Before the bump: empowering at-risk women for healthy motherhood
• Preventing accidental chemical ingestion by children 1-10 years old
• 3D vision system
• Touchless motion control system using capacitive sensing
The Centralia College Foundation provided up to $10,000 for students to complete Capstone Projects across all disciplines. The money was awarded through an application process and used primarily for materials and supplies.
In addition to the Capstone presentations, Centralia College has a popup Student Art Show in the Kirk Library now through Wednesday, June 18. Student drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures, photos and digital art are on display.
