The Tenino baseball team opened its season with a win on Saturday, as the Beavers defeated Overlake-Bear Creek 12-2 in six innings.

Oregon commit Kellan Knox got Tenino (1-0) on the board with an RBI groundout, and an Owl error plated a second run later in the inning.

Knox drove in another run in the top of the third with an RBI double, kickstarting a five-run fifth. Austin Gonia delivered an RBI knock and Hunter Sweet also came through with an RBI double, and two other runs scored on another error.

Tenino added on in the middle innings. Michael Vassar hit an RBI double in the fourth, Sweet brought home a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and he brought home another when he was hit by a pitch in the sixth.

Three Beavers combined to allow just two hits on the mound, as Knox, Cody Strawn, and Carson Hart threw two innings each.

The Beavers on the road on Monday, when they’ll head to Toledo.
