Acorns stymie Hyaks in second half

For the first time since 2006, Oakville-North River’s football team is off to a 2-0 start behind allowing just eight points in the final 24 minutes to triumph over North Beach 32-22 on Thursday night in Ocean Shores.

All of the damage done by the Acorns (2-0) from the second quarter onward was senior quarterback Gio Rodas. He scored four rushing touchdowns from 16, 6, 1 and another dash from 16 yards out. He totaled 205 yards on the ground.

Defensively, Jordan Eichelberger and Evan Schlesser each forced a fumble while Three different players had double digit tackles and at least one tackle for loss. Ben Kimbrel got the scoring started in the second period, catching a 31-yard TD from Rodas.

ONR will be on the road for the third straight week, taking on Chief Leschi in Week 3.
