The Oakville boys basketball team got a taste of what the No. 1 seed in the state has to offer, and now gets four days to recover from the lesson after getting blown out 83-46 by top-seeded Wellpinit in Cheney in the opening round of the 1B state tournament.

Eddie Klatush led the Acorns with 13 points, but was the only Oakville player to finish in double figures. Ashton Boyd added eight points, and Courtney Price had seven.

Wellpinit had its lead out to double-digits after a quarter of play, and stretched it to 42-26 by halftime. Oakville kept things right about there in the third quarter, but the designated hosts ran away with the game in a 28-9 fourth quarter.

The Acorns are set to get back to work with their backs up against the wall late Wednesday night, facing either No. 9 Neah Bay or No. 16 Orcas Island in a game scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m.
