2B Boys Golf: Pirates Handed First Loss

Posted

It took a school-record performance by Wahkiakum’s Logan LaBerge to deal Adna its first loss of the season. LaBerge shot a 3-under 32 to earn match medalist and snap the Pirates’ four-match win streak Wednesday at Skyline Golf Course in Cathlamet.

Coincidentally, it was Adna’s best team performance and lowest score of the year, shooting a combined 198 to Wahkiakum’s 195. Northwest Christian (Lacey) and Mary M. Knight also competed.

Freshman phenom Breaden Salme continued his dominance for the Pirates, shooting a second-best 43 on the day. Chris McGuire shot a 48 for the overall third-best score. Salme and McGuire both shot season-best scores.

Andrew Grim, coming off his first match-medalist performance on Monday, shot a 53, tied for fourth-best overall with Wahkiakum’s Kaleo Silva.

Pirates’ Aaron Aselton followed up with a 43, while Seth Meister had a 56 and Chase Collins a 63.

Adna falls to 4-1 on the season and travels to Hawks Prairie Links Monday to face off against Northwest Christian (Lacey) and the North Beach Hyaks.
