WINLOCK — Andreas Malunat recorded a hat trick in the first 17 minutes of the game to help United cruise to a 12-0 win over King’s Way Christian in a 1A Trico League boys soccer game here on Tuesday.
Malunat opened the scoring in the 12th minute on an assist by Isaac Cruz. Isaac Garibay assisted Malunat in the 15th minute and the 17th minute for an early hat trick. Gustavo Barragan netted a goal in the 18th minute on an assist from Edgar Barragan.
Tima Kozuvakov scored in the 31st minute on an assist by Matthew Ethridge and Ethridge scored in the 38th minute for a 6-0 lead at halftime.
Gustavo Barragan scored his second of the game on an assist by Garibay in the 49th minute and Malunat scored his fourth of the game in the 54th minute on an assist by Cruz. Garibay scored his only goal of the night in the 58th minute and Jessee Weeks scored in the 65th minute on an assist by David Ethridge. Kozuvakov recorded his second of the night in the 77th minute and Brian Wood scored on another David Ethridge assist to wrap up the scoring in the 78th minute.
“We scored quickly and in bunches. Wood is a centerback, I put some guys in different positions,” United coach Horst Malunat said. “I liked how we moved the ball in the second half.”
United (9-0-4, 9-0) travels to Vancouver on Thursday to face Seton Catholic with a chance to clinch the Trico League title.
Alvarenga’s Hat Trick Helps Tigers Over Warriors
Alex Alvarenga did what he does here at Tiger Stadium on Tuesday night as he notched a hat trick to help Centralia defeat Rochester 4-2 in Evergreen 2A Conference boys soccer action.
Alvarenga scored two first half goals to send Centralia to the locker room with a 2-0 advantage at halftime. One of those goals came on a breakaway opportunity and the other score was assisted by Mario Silva.
In the second half Alvarenga picked up his third and final goal on another assist from Silva.
“He’s a scoring machine this year. He’s really on target,” said Centralia coach Phil Strodemier.
Rochester picked up a goal shortly thereafter in order to cut their deficit to 3-1 but then Silva got in on the action with a goal of his own.
The Warriors added their final goal in the final few minutes of play before they ran out of time.
Strodemier also had praise to dole out to his middle men.
“Zaid (Tekle) had a real good game at mid. Christian (Rangel-Velazquez) had a good first half at mid as well and then he was one of my switches at half to put him on defense just to see how he looks back there,” said Strodemier.
Centralia (7-1 league) will play to Tumwater on Friday.
