Centralia Police Department

Pot Delivery

• Carey R. Cosgrove, 32, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 7 a.m. Tuesday for alleged delivery of marijuana after an employee at an espresso stand on the 400 block of South Tower Avenue told police Cosgrove brought marijuana in a Starbucks coffee package to another employee the day prior.

Spice Possession

• Jacob M. Mielitz, 21, Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for alleged possession of the drug Spice at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday after he was contacted by police for being disorderly with another tenant.

Meth and a Warrant

• Michael A. Kauer, 40, Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail on an outstanding warrant and alleged possession of methamphetamine on the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday.

Stolen Laptop

• A laptop computer was reported stolen at 10 a.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of Eshom Road.

Slashed Tires

• Someone reported at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday that the tires of a vehicle parked on the 300 block of West Pine Street were slashed. Two tires were also slashed on the 600 block of South Diamond Street. The second incident was reported at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Vehicle Prowl

• There was a report of someone rummaging through a van on the 600 block of South Diamond Street at 12:16 p.m. Tuesday.

Theft

• Someone reported the theft of a blue bike, a vacuum cleaner and a mirror on the 2000 block of North Pearl Street at 7:44 p.m. Tuesday.

Drug Possession

• Amy D. Buerk, 31, Centralia, and Alan D. Shehan, 28, Centralia, were arrested and booked into jail for alleged possession of methamphetamine and heroin on the 1100 block of North Tower Avenue at 10:26 a.m. Monday.

Fraud

• There was a report at 1:25 p.m. Monday of several bad checks being used at a business on the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue. The investigation is ongoing, and a suspect has been identified.

Vehicle Prowl

• Someone reported a stolen stereo after a vehicle prowl on the 700 block of North Tower Avenue at 5:53 p.m. Monday.

Slow-Speed Pursuit

• Edward A. Guntrum, 60, Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail after someone called police from the 1300 block of View Avenue to report a strange car parked in the caller’s driveway. An officer responded and tried to contact the driver, later identified as Guntrum, who got into his car to flee and almost hit the officer while driving away. Police followed Guntrum as he drove about a mile and a half at approximately 35 miles per hour, running stop signs and red lights until he arrived at his house where he was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to elude. He will also be referred to the prosecutor’s office for potential charges of driving under the influence, first-degree driving while license suspended and operating a motor vehicle without a required interlock.

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Love-Triangle Assault

• Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Highway 603 outside of Chehalis for a reported dispute at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday. The woman who called police, 21-year-old Margarita Massey, of Chehalis, told police she had been drinking with her live-in boyfriend, Brent Dawkins, 41, Chehalis, earlier in the day and they got into multiple verbal arguments. Dawkins left the house and went to the home of his wife, from whom he is separated, on the 1300 block of Highway 603. Massey then also went to Dawkins’ wife’s house, and allegedly shoved or punched his wife, a 40-year-old Chehalis woman, because she would not let her talk to her boyfriend. Dawkins then allegedly assaulted Massey by choking her to a point where she could not breathe. Massey was arrested for fourth-degree assault and Dawkins was arrested for second-degree assault. Both were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Burglary

• A burglary to a storage building on the 100 block of Onion Rock Lane in Mossyrock was reported at 9:51 a.m. Monday. Nothing was taken. However, the suspects damaged a window to a vehicle parked on the property as well as a door to a storage building. The estimated loss is $150.

 

Chehalis Police Department

Snakes in the Microwave

• An elderly woman called police to report that someone was dropping snakes from the upstairs apartment and that the reptiles then were coming through her microwave on the 1500 block of North National Avenue at about 7 p.m. Monday. An officer responded to the senior home and determined there were no snakes. The elderly woman also called The Chronicle to report the snakes afterward. She then called police a second time at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday to report more snakes in her apartment and told authorities that they were giving off an gassy odor that made it hard for her to breathe. Law enforcement and aid responded, and determined there were no reptiles or a gassy odor. The woman was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.

Pot at Denny’s

• An employee at the Denny’s on the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue called police to report that a customer left marijuana behind at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday. An officer responded to retrieve the lost property to be destroyed.

Intoxicated Student

• Staff at W.F. West High School called police to report a 17-year-old male student was intoxicated at school at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday. The teen was cited and will likely be referred for minor in possession of alcohol charges, according to Chehalis police.

Assault

• Joshua E. Blankenship, 24, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into jail for alleged fourth-degree assault after he reportedly shoved his ex-girlfriend on the 600 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at 4 p.m. Monday.

 

Morton Police Department

Violation of a Protection Order

• Megan N. Demarco, 27, Morton, was issued a citation for allegedly violating a protection order at 2:51 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Not a Fight

• There was a report of a possible fight on the 100 block of First Street at 11 a.m. Jan. 1. An officer responded and determined that the noise was due to children playing in the area.

Damaged Mirror

• Police took a report of a damaged car mirror on the 300 block of First Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Jan. 1.

Trespasser

• Police responded to a report of a trespass in progress on the 100 block of Third Street at 3:22 p.m. Saturday. The trespasser was contacted and advised to move away from the area.
