Death investigation

• An “undetermined death” reported in the 1900 block of Southeast Cypress Road at approximately 7:50 a.m. on April 1 is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A disorderly man was reportedly drinking alcohol on a property in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 11:25 a.m. on April 1.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man was cited for trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on April 1.

 

Theft

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:10 p.m. on April 1.

• A $1,400 plasma cutter was reported stolen from a business in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:55 p.m. on April 1.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A minor head injury was reported following a single-vehicle collision in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 2:10 p.m. on April 1. The driver reported she “looked at her phone and drove off the roadway.”

 

Malicious mischief

• A juvenile was cited for third-degree malicious mischief in the 800 block of Northwest Lake Street just before 5:50 p.m. on April 1.

 

Harassment

• A case of ongoing neighborhood harassment was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue just after 7:15 p.m. on April 1.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Property was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1100 block of West Chestnut Street at approximately 7:40 a.m. on April 1.   • Just before 11:20 p.m. on April 1, a citizen in the 100 block of West Maple Street reported credits were stolen from an EBT card in Oregon.

• A 15-year-old Centralia boy was cited for shoplifting in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 8:55 p.m. on April 2.

• Two Shelton residents were arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 6:05 p.m. on April 2 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail on theft charges related to multiple thefts in the area.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run involving a blue Ford Focus that “bumped another vehicle then left” in the 900 block of Ellsbury Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on April 1 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Minor injuries were reported following a three-vehicle collision in the 1000 block of West Main Street just before 3:15 p.m. on April 1.

• A driver was cited for following too closely after they rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Reynolds Avenue just before 12:25 p.m. on April 2.

 

Injured eagle update

• Centralia officers helped a state Department of Fish and Wildlife agent capture an injured eagle in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at 2:45 p.m. on April 1. “The eagle was transported to a rehabilitation center due to a broken wing where the goal will ultimately be to release it back into the wild,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Centralia man was trespassed from a restaurant in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue at 6:55 p.m. on April 1. The man was reportedly “causing a scene by screaming at customers while standing in the doorway of the restaurant.” He was reportedly “dressed in all green attire and claiming to be Irish” and “advised he was upset with the restaurant and believed he was being discriminated against.”

• Two homeless people were trespassed from a local auto parts store in the 1100 block of Johnson Road just after 9:45 a.m. on April 2 for setting up a tent on the lawn.

• A homeless Centralia man who was “sitting behind a closed coffee stand, yelling at nobody” in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6 a.m. on April 3 was moved along.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A homeless Salkum man was trespassed from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 9:40 a.m. on April 2 for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless Salkum man was trespassed from a train station in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue just after 11:05 a.m. on April 2 for disorderly conduct.

• A 52-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of West Maple Street at approximately 11:20 a.m. on April 2 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless Salkum man was trespassed from the library in the 100 block of South Silver Street at approximately 1:15 p.m. on April 2 for disorderly conduct.

 

Urinating in public

• A homeless Centralia man was cited for urinating in public after officers saw him “urinating in the corner near a building” in the 100 block of South Silver Street just before 7:20 p.m. on April 1.

 

Missing person

• A 77-year-old dementia patient walked away from a care facility in the 600 block of Hamilton Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. on April 2. He was located in Randle at about 8 p.m. that same day.

 

Malicious mischief

  Damage to an electric vehicle charging station outside of a fast food restaurant in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue was reported just before 3:40 p.m. on April 2.

• Just after 4:05 p.m. on April 2, there was a report that a window had been broken out of a parked truck in the 700 block of South Street.

• A 58-year-old Centralia resident was arrested in the 500 block of Prairie Rose Street at approximately 11:35 p.m. on April 2 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, after they allegedly broke a family member’s bedroom door.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 34 illness-related calls, 12 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, five vehicle accidents, five non-emergency service calls, two Lifeline medical alerts, one pregnancy-related call and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 142 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 20 inmates, including eight booked by the Centralia Police Department, eight booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Lummi Nation and two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
