Sirens: Luring; Obstructing Public Servant; Vicious Dog; Four Arrests in Vader Burglary

Centralia Police Department

Luring

•  Nicholas S. Lange, 48, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly trying to lure a 9-year-old girl to go with him at 6:09 p.m. Monday on the 500 block of South Rock Street. Nicholas contacted the female in her front yard but fled the scene when the girl ran and told her grandparents. He was later contacted by police during a traffic stop and arrested.

Obstructing Public Servant

•  Randall P. Martin, 31, Keizer, Ore., was arrested and booked for obstructing a public servant on the 100 block of South Pearl Street at 7:28 p.m. Monday after allegedly causing a disturbance in the park and refusing to cooperate with police. 

Vicious Dog

• Someone reported being bitten by a big, black dog while at the dog park in Fort Borst Park at 9:08 p.m. Monday. It is unknown who owns the dog. The case is under investigation. 

Vehicle Theft

• A red 1994 Subaru Impreza with Washington license AEZ6048 was reported stolen at 2:27 a.m. Tuesday on the 1300 block of Lum Road. 

Vehicle Prowl

• James A. Jollineau, Centralia, was arrested and booked for vehicle prowl on the 1200 block of Elm Street at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday. Jollineau attempted to escape by running away when police contacted him. Police dog Kayo located the suspect hiding in some bushes.

Driver Hits Two Pedestrians

• Two people were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with minor injuries after a car turned from West Main Street onto North Tower Avenue at 8:10 p.m. Sunday and failed to yield the right of way, striking two people, ages 59 and 66, in the crosswalk. The driver was cited.

Rape

• Police are investigating a reported rape. A 40-year-old woman called police at 12:04 p.m. Sunday and said she had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her earlier that day. The case is still under investigation.

Felonious Thelonious

• Thelonious C. Morrison, 40, of Lacey, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of first-degree assault and felon in possession of a firearm after he allegedly pointed a gun at another man during an argument on the 700 block of East Third Street at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Slashed Tires

• Two tires were reportedly slashed sometime Thursday night on the 800 block of West Pear Street. The incident was reported at 2:49 p.m. Friday.

Bad Tenant

• Cassandra R. Sines, 26, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of felony harassment after she allegedly threatened to kill her property manager at 4:24 p.m. Friday on the 1100 block of South Pearl Street.

Fight at Chevron

• Servando G. Marquez, 43, of Kennewick, was cited for suspicion of disorderly conduct after he allegedly tried to start fights with customers at the Chevron gas station on the 1200 block of Mellen Street at 9:44 p.m. Friday. He was also booked into jail on two outstanding warrants out of Kennewick.

Unreturned Furniture From Rent-a-Center

• Officers took three reports of theft at the Rent-a-Center on Borst Avenue at about 1:30 pm. Saturday. Several items, from multiple renters, were not returned. The cases are still under investigation.

DUI

• Cody A. Sparks, 22, of Vancouver, Wash., was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence at 12:55 a.m. Sunday on South Tower Avenue and Second Avenue.

Assault

• A woman reported at 5:42 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of East Sixth Street that her ex-boyfriend assaulted her. The boyfriend was not located, and the case is still under investigation.

• Police responded to a fight on the 2800 block of Russell Road at 10:45 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, a woman claimed her boyfriend, who had already left the scene, had pushed her. The case is under investigation.

• Michelle E. Francisco-Lorenzo, 36, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault on Yew Street and West Walnut Street at 5:52 a.m. Monday.

Hit and Run Collision

• Police took a report of a hit and run collision on the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue at 3:16 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

Shoplifter Escapes on Bike

• A man suspected of shoplifting items from a store on the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 3:50 p.m. Sunday fled the area on a bicycle. He was not located.

Burglary

• A burglary at a house on the 1400 block of Lum Road was reported at 6:50 a.m. Monday. The occupants told police that they left the residence for about 15 minutes, and when they returned, someone entered through an open window and took several items.

Stolen Signs

• Political signs were reportedly stolen from a yard on the 500 block of Hamilton Avenue at 7:43 a.m. Monday.

Four Arrests in Vader Burglary

Four Vader boys — ages 13, 14, 15 and 16 — were arrested and booked into a juvenile detention facility Monday for allegedly burglarizing a home on the 200 block of Sixth Street in Vader several weeks ago. Stolen were 30 bottle of wine, an iPod docking station, a jewelry box, aftershave, items from a refrigerator, steak knives, a .22 caliber rifle and several other items. The boys allegedly admitted to drinking some of the wine at a nearby river and then throwing the stolen items into the water. A dive team with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office will attempt to locate the items later this week, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

DUI

Nicholas M. Nowak, 22, of Winlock, was arrested on the 600 block of Avery Road West at about 4 a.m. Tuesday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Theft

• A Schwinn bicycle valued at $300 was stolen from the home of a 23-year-old Chehalis woman on the 1600 block of Bishop Road sometime between Sunday and Monday. The bicycle was parked in front of the woman’s house.

K-9 Finds Wanted Man in Bushes

• A deputy responded to a reported vehicle collision at 10:24 p.m. Sunday on the 1000 block of Shorey Road outside of Chehalis. When the deputy arrived on scene, however, the vehicle had no damage, and appeared to have stopped on the road next to a ditch. The driver was not there. The deputy processed the registration of the vehicle and learned that its owner had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. The responding deputy was one of the K-9 handlers for the sheriff’s office, and the police dog tracked the scent of the man to his hiding place, two blocks south of where his car was parked, in blackberry bushes. Terrry M. Munsell, 39, of Rochester, was arrested and booked into jail for an outstanding felony warrant.

DUI

• Daniel N. Nellis, 51, of Tonasket, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence on the 2500 block of Harrison Avenue at 9:16 p.m. Friday.

Theft

• Several items — including a tractor air conditioner, an irrigation valve, gas cans and other items valued at $1,270 — were stolen from a barn yard on the 1300 block of Wildwood Road in Curtis at 9:53 a.m. Saturday.

Burglary

• A 42-year-old Toledo woman called police at 9:11 p.m. Friday to report someone had entered a barn on the 500 block of Telegraph Road outside of Centralia sometime in the past week and stole a metal tire rack and a wood stove, valued at $400.

Faulty Electrical Box at Little Caesars

• Firefighters responded to Little Caesars, located inside Kmart in Chehalis, at 6:44 p.m. Sunday due to a short in the electrical box. This is the second time firefighters have responded to that location in the past week. On July 25, electrical fans malfunctioned and burned through the ceiling, which caused a small fire.

Driving Under the Influence of Meth

• Michael A. Hammett, 23, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence and alleged possession of methamphetamine after he crashed his car into a fence at 3:55 p.m. Saturday on the 800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A witness to the accident called 911 and told the dispatcher that the driver was passed out at the wheel with a needle in his hand. The man was not breathing at the time of the collision, and medics revived him before transporting him to the hospital. Hammett was later released from the hospital and booked into jail.

Drunken Teen Tries to Run From Police — Doesn’t Succeed

• A 17-year-old Chehalis girl was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for suspicion of minor in possession of alcohol and alleged obstructing after someone called police at 4:26 a.m. Sunday to report a blonde girl was acting strange on West Main Street and Northwest Cascade Avenue. When police tried to contact the girl, she allegedly ran from police. Police say she was intoxicated.

Speeding Leads to Reckless Driving Citation

• Desire M. Lafferty, 34, of Centralia, was cited for suspicion of reckless driving after an officer pulled her over on Northeast Kresky Avenue and Northeast Hampe Way at 5:53 p.m. Friday for driving 60 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Man Tries to Steal Beer from Riverside Golf Club

• An employee at Riverside Golf Club called police at 8:48 p.m. Sunday to report a man tried to steal a case of beer from a walk-in cooler. Employees stopped the man with the beer before he took it out of the building. After he learned the police had been called, the man ran down Airport Road and an employee ran after him. An officer responded, but the man was not arrested.

Stolen Bikes

• A bike was reported stolen from the 100 block of Pacific Avenue at 2 p.m. Friday.

 

Morton Police Department

Gas Station Disagreement

• Police responded to the 600 block of Airport Way at 11 a.m. Sunday in regards to a dispute about a customer pumping more gasoline that what was paid for. The issue was resolved when officers arrived.

Cat Burglar?

• Police took a report of suspicious circumstances at a residence on the 300 block of First Street at 8:38 p.m. July 31. A window screen had been pushed out. Upon examination, it appeared that the resident’s cat may how pushed out the screen to get out of the house.

Dogs Kill Cat

• Police responded to the 100 block of Division Avenue to a report of two dogs that had entered a backyard of a house and killed the homeowner’s cat at 4:17 p.m. July 29. The dogs were transported to the animal shelter.
