Wind Stirs Smoke

• High winds teased Lewis County Fire District 16 in the Doty-Dryad area on Friday. The crew responded to a report of a chimney fire on Bagshaw Road at about 2 p.m. Firefighter Tim Pilv said it appears that a gust of wind hit the chimney on the residence and caused smoke to escape from the stove. When responders arrived, there was no sign of smoke or flames.

Can’t Go Around It

• Judy A. Creel, 51, of Centralia, was cited for obstructing after she refused to give her information to an officer when she allegedly went around a road block at crash scene. The incident happened at 8:01 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Reynolds Avenue and Lum Road in Centralia.

Forgery Attempt

• Randesha R. Brown, 28, of Seattle, was arrested and booked for forgery after she allegedly tried to pass a fraudulent check on the 100 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia at 3:56 p.m. on Thursday.

Sleepy Driving Causes Crash

• A 74-year-old Vader man fell asleep while driving and went off the roadway on the 900 block of Winlock-Vader Road in Winlock, according to his passenger. The passenger advised deputies who responded to the crash at

1:08 p.m. on Thursday that he yelled at the driver to wake up. The driver had no injuries and the passenger felt pain in his left arm. The 2007 Dodge Caravan sustained major damage. Deputies cited the driver for wheels off the roadway. 

Protection Order Violation

• Deputies arrested and booked 45-year-old Stacy J. Dagnon, of Mossyrock, for violating a protection order after she allegedly called her ex-boyfriend and left two voicemails at 11:06 p.m. on Thursday. The protection order the victim, a 38-year-old Glenoma man, had taken out against Dagnon, was served hours prior to the violation. Dagnon told deputies she didn’t fully read the order and called the victim to talk about it.

Girl Brings Drugs to School

• A 16-year-old girl allegedly brought prescription medication to Onalaska High School and passed the drugs out to four of her high-school aged girl friends. She also allegedly took some of the medication herself and alcohol was possibly involved. The girls were transported to Centralia Providence Hospital for observation at 12:36 p.m. on Friday. Investigation is underway and possible charges of delivery of a controlled substance are pending. The girls’ parents have been notified.
