Sirens: Man Crashes Vehicle, Reports It Stolen; 18-Year-Old Arrested for DUI; Perp Nearly Drowns

Down But Not Broken

• A driver hit a power pole near the intersection of Lum Road and West Reynolds Avenue at about 6 p.m. on Monday. Officials with Riverside Fire Authority said the pole didn’t quite break, but was damaged. Both lanes of West Reynolds Avenue were temporarily closed due to the pole across the road. RFA crews were on scene for about an hour. The man, name and age unknown, who hit the pole was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for unknown injuries.

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Chopped

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about Christopher S. Haegen, 39, of Ethel, who was referred for first-degree possession of stolen property. A 71-year-old woman told deputies at 12:09 p.m. on Monday that she had given Haegen permission to use her property on the 1200 block of U.S. Highway 12, but that he could not bring cars onto the property. She told deputies there was a car on the property that appeared was being chopped up. Deputies found a 2001 Honda CR-V in good shape, but with many parts missing. The vehicle is valued at more than $1,500.  

Ex-Roommate Violates Protection Order

• Deputies arrested Patricia A. Carpenter, a 50-year-old transient, for violating a protection order on the 400 block of A Street in Vader. On Nov. 26 at 7:40 p.m. a 47-year-old Vader woman told deputies that her ex-roommate violated a protection order by coming onto her property. Deputies located Carpenter in a camper trailer on the property. She was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Steel Stolen

• Mohawk Industries reported $3,600 worth of stainless steel sheets were stolen from the business’s storage area in the parking lot on the 200 block of Downey Road in Chehalis. Between Nov. 22 and Nov. 26, one 76-inch diameter circular sheet and one 80- by 100-inch sheet were reportedly taken.

Man Crashes Vehicle, Reports It Stolen

• Deputies arrested a Toledo man for providing false or misleading information to a public servant after he allegedly crashed his vehicle and reported it stolen. On Nov. 28 at 7:16 p.m., deputies arrived to a single-vehicle collision on the 300 block of Leonard Road in Onalaska and could not locate the driver. Dispatch advised that at 8:18 p.m. Sean D. Leonard, 30, called to report his 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee had been stolen. It was learned that Leonard had been driving the Jeep, and it was not stolen. Deputies arrested Leonard at 9:01 p.m., and he was booked into the Lewis County Jail. The vehicle sustained major damage. Leonard had no apparent injuries.     

18-Year-Old Arrested for DUI

• Deputies arrested and booked 18-year-old Pablo M. Anselmo, of Centralia, for driving under the influence at 4 a.m. on Nov. 30 at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Ives Road in Centralia.

Nothing Stolen, Hundreds of Dollars in Damage

• An estimated $750 worth of damage was done in an attempted burglary between Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. Someone allegedly entered a business office on the 1500 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis through a large front window and tried to open a steel safe bolted to the floor. Nothing was stolen.

  

Centralia Police Department

DUI and Hit and Run

• Police arrested Ronald T. Chadwick, 60, of Spokane, for driving under the influence and hit and run on the 100 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia at 2:11 p.m. on Nov. 26.

Domestic Violence

• David L. Davenport III, 25, of Centralia was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and malicious mischief domestic violence on the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Centralia at 3:41 p.m. on Nov. 26. 

Perp Nearly Drowns

• K9 Lobo assisted police in tracking Ricky L. Blay Jr., 19, of Centralia, after Blay allegedly tried to swim across the Skookumchuck River to get away from officers. Blay gave up after getting too cold and he nearly drowned. Police arrested Blay for obstructing and numerous outstanding warrants. He ran from a traffic stop on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 10:31 p.m. on Nov. 26.

Interstate DUI Arrest

• Police arrested Clarence E. Wright, 25, of Chehalis for driving under the influence at 1:22 a.m. on Thursday southbound on Interstate 5 at milepost 80 in Centralia.

DUI Arrest

• Daniel Lopez-Cuevas, 33, of Centralia was arrested for driving under the influence on the 100 block of South Silver Street in Centralia at 2:16 a.m. on Thursday. 

Domestic Violence Arrest

• Police arrested and booked Catherine G. Bryce, 52, of Centralia for fourth-degree domestic violence and third-degree malicious mischief domestic violence at 7:47 p.m. on Friday on the 200 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia.
