A Lewis County judged sentenced the 22-year-old who shot his father’s goat last December with a bow and arrow to “make a sacrifice to God” to two days in jail and to undergo a mental health evaluation after the Toledo man pleaded guilty earlier this month.

Kameron D. Williams pleaded guilty to second-degree animal cruelty and third-degree malicious mischief on March 5 in relation to the death of the goat, according to court documents. Superior Court Judge James Lawler sentenced Williams to two days in jail, with credit for two days served.

Deputies arrested Williams on Dec. 21 after Williams’ uncle called police to report his nephew was “going crazy” and had shot a goat named Betty, slit its throat and was dragging it around their property, court documents state. The goat belonged to Williams’ father.

The police report indicates Williams may have been suffering from mental health issues at the time of his arrest.
