A former Tenino resident wanted by the Lakewood Police Department is now in custody following a Thurston County SWAT team operation.

The incident occurred in the 4800 block of 176th Avenue SW near Grand Mound and Tenino in the early afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 26.

The team was deployed for surveillance of the residence. A team was activated at around 4 p.m. after law enforcement found that he was armed and barricaded, said Lt. Ray Brady, of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

“We were requested with assisting the apprehension of a fugitive by the Lakewood Police Department. He was believed to be armed and barricaded within a residence,” Brady said.

Thurston County’s Narcotics Taskforce, the Lakewood Police Department and the Washington State Patrol assisted with the SWAT-led operation.

Shortly before a team was poised to enter the residence, the suspect exited the residence and gave up peacefully, Brady said.

Information on the subject and his alleged felony were not available, Brady said.
