Four suspects were arrested early Saturday after reports of a vandalism spree in which at least eight vehicles were damaged.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports about 4 a.m. Saturday about “punk kids” driving around the neighborhood in a light-colored sedan damaging property, Lt. Cliff Ziesemer said.
A deputy located two adults and two juveniles — ages 14 and 17 — in a car in the 1900 block of 69th Avenue Southeast near Munn Lake. Inside the car, the deputy found baseball bats, a chainsaw-carved bear, a Seahawks sign and several Seahawks flags, Ziesemer said.
Side mirrors and rear windows were damaged on the eight vehicles, Ziesemer said, and a golf club was found at the scene with glass particles. One victim who called the Sheriff’s Office said that one of his planting pots had been taken from the porch and destroyed in the street.
Ziesemer said a suspect told a deputy that they were “all out having fun.”
The suspects were booked for second-degree malicious mischief, which involves damage to property totaling more than $750, Ziesemer said.
The two adult suspects appeared Monday in Thurston County Superior Court. Bail was set at $2,500 for Sheldon M. Hyde, 18, who was driving the vehicle. The other adult suspect, Issac T. Watterson, 18, was released on personal recognizance. Their arraignment was set for Dec. 15. Information on the juveniles’ court appearance was unavailable.
According to court documents, Hyde assured a deputy that the damage was contained to the one neighborhood.
