Speeding Causes Semi Crash East of Packwood

A driver was injured and is facing a negligent-driving charge after a crash Friday morning east of Packwood, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported at 7:57 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 12 at milepost 145, 15 miles east of Packwood.

The vehicle, a 2012 Peterbuilt semi and flatbed trailer, was heading westbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, causing the truck and trailer to roll on its side.

Driver Magdaleno M. Olivarez, 52, of Othello, was injured and transported to Morton General Hospital.

The crash was caused by speeding, according to the state patrol, and Olivarez is facing a second-degree negligent driving charge.
