Sirens: Suspect Attempts to Flee From Police, Suspect Accused of Providing False Name to Avoid Arrest, Man With Chainsaw Seen Entering Park

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Two Residences Vandalized

• At 8:08 a.m. Monday, a caller in the 300 block of North Rock Street reported graffiti on two residences.

Suspect Booked for Meth Possession

• At 9:48 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street and arrested Matthew R. Horton Sr., 33, of Centralia on suspicion of possession of meth and on a Lewis County Superior Court warrant.

Suspect Attempts to Flee Police

• At 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street and arrested Guy A. Johnson, 44, of Centralia on suspicion of possession of meth. According to police, an officer tried to contact Johnson about not having appropriate reflectors on his bicycle. Johnson allegedly tried to flee but was caught, and then provided a false name to police.

 Gas Siphoned from Vehicle

• At 9:22 a.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 500 block of South Cedar Street reported that gas was siphoned from two vehicles.

Fence Vandalized

• At 12:21 p.m. Tuesday, graffiti on a fence was reported in the 900 block of K Street.

Theft

• At 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of a case of beer was reported at a business in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue.

Suspect Accused of Providing False Name to Avoid Arrest

• At 12:24 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 2000 block Borst Avenue and arrested Timothy J. Atkinson, 18, of Centralia on suspicion of first-degree criminal impersonation. 

Atkinson allegedly provided a fake name to officers to avoid being arrested on an active warrant.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Man With Chainsaw Seen Entering Park

• At 8:53 a.m. Monday, a caller in the 2500 block of North National Avenue reported a man wielding a chainsaw entering a park, starting the saw up and then shutting it off.

Police Requested to Remove Pacing Individual

• At 11:36 a.m. Monday, police were requested in the 100 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue to remove a man who was pacing around and refused to leave when asked.

Thefts

• At 3:20 p.m. Monday, a theft of a walker was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 17th Street.

• At 2:02 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of a driver’s license was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

Intoxicated Men Insult Store Staff

• At 2 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard reported he just threw two very drunk men out of a store. The men were making a scene and insulting a cashier.

Counterfeit Money Reported

• At 3:44 p.m. Tuesday, police were requested in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for a counterfeiting incident.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 226 inmates, with 193 in general population, 32 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 158 were men and 35 were women and of WERC inmates, 28 were men and four were women. A total of 13 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
